And weddings are set four weeks later. At the altar, the couples either follow through with the nuptials or reveal to their partners that they don’t wish to wed. In the first episode, connections are quickly made and strong feelings develop.
Admittedly, my shock could be explained by my lack of interest in dating shows. It’s hard for me to invest time and emotion into something like “The Bachelor” when the splits far outnumber the success stories.

Something about Love Is Blind feels more dystopian than either series, though. While watching the trailer, I kept waiting for the music to suddenly turn ominous and the screen to crack, revealing that this was all just a preview for the next episode of Black Mirror. The trailer ends with a bride, in her wedding dress, literally running away from the altar. Good for her. Love Is Blind looks schlocky and fluffy, and because of that, it will be amazing television.

With networks such as MTV, ABC and Lifetime finding huge success with reality dating shows, it comes at no surprise that Netflix continues to wade into the ever-growing ocean that is reality tv.
For anyone who has seen the reality series Blind Date or Married at First Sight will know how a series like this will work.
The futuristic-looking octagonal rooms are furnished with fuzzy blankets, alcohol, and an opaque glass wall. Contestants can speak through it, but not see each other. After a few initial rounds of speed dating, those with obvious chemistry can spend as much time together as they want. The only caveat is that if they want to actually see or touch each other, they have to first get engaged, without leaving their respective pods. It is, to be fair, a bonkers premise.
Only the first two and a half of the 10 total episodes take place inside the facility. During those episodes, the show mainly gives screentime to first dates good or bad , relationship drama love triangles, surprise rejections , and proposals. The pod dates and engagements are necessary exposition, but what comes next is much more interesting to watch.
